March 2002

Foundation

KEAMED Nurses’ Training Institute was established with a strong sense of national responsibility to support Ethiopia’s health sector development. The institute was founded to educate and train skilled mid‑level health professionals capable of delivering essential healthcare services to communities across the country.

September 2003

College Status & First Campus

In September 2003, the institute achieved a major milestone by upgrading to college status and launching its first campus in Nekemte, located 350 kilometers west of Addis Ababa. This transition marked the beginning of rapid institutional growth, characterized by continuous expansion of academic programs and sustained investment in both human and material resources.

Expanding National Presence

Today, KEAMED operates three campuses in Addis Ababa  the Misrak Campus near 22 Mazoria, the Arada Campus around Piassa (Enkulal Fabrika), and the Ayertena Campus in the Ayer Tena area along with two regional campuses in Bahir Dar and Debre Birhan. Across all campuses, the college currently provides education to over 10,000 students in nursing, health officer, pharmacy, laboratory technology, accounting, marketing, and ICT programs at diploma, degree, and master’s levels.

Accreditation, Achievement & Impact

Oxygen Production Plant

At our Debre Birhan campus, we inaugurated the first medical oxygen production plant, ensuring a vital, life‑saving resource for local hospitals and health centers..

Blood Donation Campaigns

Our students and staff regularly organize blood donation drives in collaboration with the Ethiopian Red Cross, helping to save countless lives.

Free Health Checkup Camps

We conduct regular outreach programs in rural and underserved areas, offering free medical consultations, screenings, and health education.

Digital Literacy Programs

In line with our expansion into ICT, we provide computer and digital skills training to youth and community members, bridging the digital divide..
